CABINPAC, the Meath-based maker of prefabricated buildings, has grown its Dunshaughlin factory space by 50pc with a new 20,000 sq ft extension.

The company says the €800,000 investment in extra space will allow Cabinpac to produce up to 20 more prefabs weekly. It has increased its workforce this year by 16 to more than 60.

Managing director Tadhg Twomey said Cabinpac's growing order book reflected customers' Brexit preparation needs and wider pressures in the construction sector, with prices high for building fixed office and storage units, and the supply of skilled labour running low.

Cabinpac designs and produces its buildings part by part in Dunshaughlin, then assembles them on site across Ireland and the UK. Its clients include schools and hospitals, pharma companies and tech multinationals, An Garda Síochána, the Office of Public Works, airport operator DAA and Dublin Port.

"We have a convincing story to tell to companies, organisations and public bodies who need extra space - and need it quickly," Mr Twomey said.

"The modular solutions we design and manufacture provide a simple, efficient and above all rapid way of meeting often urgent needs for new buildings."

Mr Twomey said Cabinpac offered "reduced time and labour costs on site", with "less disruption to local transport networks and the immediate area around a site".

He added: "We're confident we can treble in size from where we are today."
