THEY ALSO TELL ME THAT THE COUPLE CHARGED WITH CHILD NEGLECT. THEY SAY THAT THAT COUPLE LIVED HERE WITH THE ACCUSED MAN'S AT PARENTS. NOW, WHEN IT COMES TO THIS INFANT AND THE INJURIES WE'RE TOLD, IT'S SO BAD THAT THE LITTLE BOY HAD TO UNDERGO EMERGENCY SURGERY AND DOCTORS SAY HE COULD FACE SIGNIFICANT MEDICAL ISSUES FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE. I THINK THAT'S A LIFETIME HONESTLY, THE POOR CHILD HAS THE FACE. >> WHAT THESE INJURIES FOR THEY COULD BE LIFELONG THAT COULD AFFECT HIS WHOLE, YOU KNOW, CHILDHOOD ADULTHOOD. BOTH CHARGED WITH CHILD NEGLECT. THOSE FEET ARE PROTECTORS THEM FROM HARM. AND YES, IT'S A VERY SAD, UNFORTUNATE. >> A NATION DOCTORS AT GOLISANO'S CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL IN FORT MYERS CALLED CHARLOTTE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE LAST WEEK TELLING THEM TO INVESTIGATE THE BABY'S INJURIES. THE INFANT HAD BLEEDING ON HIS BRAIN. MULTIPLE SKULL FRACTURES AND A STROKE. THEIR INVESTIGATION FOUND. >> RANSOM. THE GENTLEMAN'S NAME HAD CONDUCTED SOME INTERNET SEARCHES REGARDING DENSON BABY'S FOREHEAD. OR DO BABY SNORE AND THINGS OF THAT NATURE OF THE DAY BEFORE BRINGING THE CHILD FOR MEDICAL TREATMENT. AND THAT'S REALLY CONCERNING FOR THEM. I WALKED TO THE FRONT DOOR OF THIS GREEN HOUSE ON PARK STREET NORTHWEST, WHERE NEIGHBORS SAY THE COUPLE LIVES WITH THE MAN'S PARENTS, 9 ACT. AND AS YOU CAN SEE, A STROLLER BY THE FRONT DOOR, THE WOMAN WHO ANSWERED THE DOOR DID NOT WANT TO TALK. >> AGAIN, THAT COUPLE IS FACING CHILD NEGLECT CHARGES. HOWEVER, AFTER SPEAKING WITH A CHARLOTTE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE TODAY, THEY SAY MORE CHARGES COULD BE COMING AS THIS IS AN ONGOING

      Port Charlotte couple facing child neglect charges after infant suffers life-threatening injuries
      A Charlotte County couple is facing charges after an infant in their care had to be taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.Charlotte County detectives were called to Golisano's Children's Hospital in Fort Myers on March 24.According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, the infant had several injuries, including bleeding in the brain, multiple skull fractures, a stroke and more. Staff told them that the infant was in "extremely critical condition" and was in emergency surgery when they arrived.Detectives then interviewed Shona Hochsprung, 22, and Alexander Ransom, 24, separately to get details about what happened.According to a CCSO news release, both of them had different explanations about how the infant suffered the injuries, and their stories were inconsistent.Detectives said Hochsprung told them she rolled over onto the baby while asleep, but woke up immediately after the child started crying. However, hospital staff said that was not a viable explanation for the infant's injuries.CCSO determined Ransom and Hochsprung agreed they were the only two people with the child at the time of the infant's injuries and that it occurred at their Port Charlotte home on Sunday, March 23.According to CCSO, investigators found Ransom made internet searches, including, "dent in baby forehead" and "do babies snore?" at approximately 5 p.m. on March 23.CCSO said this indicated Ransom was aware of the injuries and did not seek medical attention for the infant until the next day.Ransom and Hochsprung were arrested and are facing charges of child neglect with great bodily harm.
