Ambassador of Australia to Mongolia Katie Smith Awarded the “Golden Gerege”

Ulaanbaatar, March 26, 2025 /MONTSAME/. On March 25, 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Battsetseg Batmunkh received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Commonwealth of Australia to Mongolia Katie Smith, upon the completion of her term in Mongolia. 


At the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs Battsetseg Batmunkh appreciated the efforts of the two sides in maintaining active political dialogue, intensifying economic cooperation, trade, and investment, as well as expanding the scope of bilateral relations with Australia, Mongolia’s key partner in the Asia-Pacific region. The Foreign Minister also highlighted the ongoing work towards elevating bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Partnership. 


Foreign Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh expressed her appreciation for Ambassador Katie Smith’s dedicated work in strengthening Mongolia-Australia relations during her tenure. As a token of gratitude, the Foreign Minister presented the “Golden Gerege,” a traditional honor awarded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, and wished the Ambassador success and well-being in her future endeavors. 


Ambassador Katie Smith expressed her satisfaction with the advancement of Mongolia-Australia relations in recent years, particularly in education, mining, and tourism. The Ambassador also conveyed her sincere appreciation to the leadership and staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia for extending full support throughout her tenure as Ambassador.
