It wasn't to be for Irish golfer Shane Lowry on Sunday evening as his hopes of a PGA Tour victory went up in smoke.
The Valspar Championship at Innisbrook Golf and Spa Resort in Florida is not one of the tour's signature events but it still boasts a world class field and an $8.7 million purse to those who made the cut, with $1,566,000 going to the winner.
Irish pair Lowry and Seamus Power were both in real contention at one stage but slipped back on the back nine with Norway's Viktor Hovland charging through to take his seventh career victory and the huge top cash prize.
Lowry finishing in eighth place after a round of one under on the last day but he took away a nice cheque for $271,875 for his work. That equates to €249,948.28 right now. Not bad going for a disappointing Sunday.
Lowry has won one Major and has three PGA Tour wins in his career. He had two top 10 finishes so far in 2025 before this.
He has earned roughly $33,819,745 on the course since turning professional after winning the Irish open at Baltray in 2009, with his PGA Earnings at $25,632,626 and his Majors performances Earning $8,187,118.
Seamus Power finished on the exact same same score and took home the exact same money as his Irish pal Lowry. Waterford man Power can be very pleased with his -5 round on the Sunday in Florida.
