Finding the perfect pair of sandals can be a tough ask and, for many of us, it starts at this point in the year as warm weather finally starts to emerge. All this changed about five years ago, when I fell in love with some Skechers sandals. Initially I spotted a purple print pair in a Skechers shop in a very similar style to these. From the first moment I put them on they were a dream and became my go-to summer shoes, easily dressed up or down and as comfortable as my favourite pair of slippers but actually socially acceptable to wear out of the house.
Sadly the original design is now long out of stock but, as one of Skechers’ most popular summer styles, new versions come out every year in many different colours from retailers including Skechers, M&S and M&M Direct. Prices are up to £46.99 a pair depending on hue, but I’ve spotted a way to snag a pair from M&M Direct for as little as £13.03 for savvy shoppers who do one thing.

The flip flops have an RRP on M&M Direct of £46.99 and are currently reduced to £29.99. But money saving deals site TopCashback is offering new members a £15 free signup bonus when they make their first purchase through the site. When combined with cashback on the sandals, customers who are new to both TopCashback and M&M Direct can get the shoes for £13.03 while new TopCashback members who have shopped with M&M previously will end up having effectively paid £14.73 after cashback.
As a long time devotee of these shoes, this is an early contender for bargain of the summer. I've now bought three pairs of these Skechers On the Go sandals over the last five years or so and they are without doubt the most comfortable summer shoes I own.
I’ve walked miles in them - keeping them on all day every day through countless school runs, work days and even a trip to Disney World where I walked up to 24,000 steps a day wearing them. They’ve never rubbed, worn or been anything other than as comfortable as a pair of slippers - but smart enough to be socially acceptable to leave the house wearing (I love my Crocs but I draw the line wearing them outside of my garden).
The name of the sandal has varied slightly over the years, but they've all been tagged Go Walk and have the same soft fabric with a hint of elastic in the iconic and pretty crossover design alongside a cushioned footbed that means even walking on hard surfaces for long periods of time feels comfortable and more like walking on clouds than unforgiving concrete.
I bought my latest pair, a stunning blue denim look pair, a few weeks ago in M&S where they cost me £44 . While I still love them, if I’d spotted M&M Direct were selling the same style for £29.99 a pair, albeit in different colours, I might have plumped for one of those - I especially like the silver grey .
I'm not the only devotee of the sandals. Although they're a relatively new addition to the M&M Direct site, they already have a 4.9 star rating out of five from 14 reviews. One shopper said: “Comfortable for the foot, nice appearance and a lovely silvery colour. A reasonable price for Skechers too.
A second added: “Comfortable mules for summer and colour will go with anything.” A third said: “Look really smart and chic.”
They didn’t work for everyone though. One three star reviewer said: "The elastic fabric is very tight and feels uncomfortable." The shoes are available in sizes from 3 to 8 and run a little big compared to my normal size.
