Nine people rescued from horror house blaze as huge emergency response scrambled to street
Police, fire crews and paramedics were called to the scene in north Manchester
Nine people were inside a house that caught fire in north Manchester on Thursday evening (March 13), it's understood. A huge emergency response was scrambled to the scene of the blaze on Brookfield Road in Crumpsall.
Four people had self-rescued by the time fire crews arrived, with windows seen blown out on the top floor of the property, the M.E.N understands. Five others were then pulled to safety by emergency services at the scene. Their condition has not been confirmed.
The alarm was raised at around 6.20pm, before multiple fire engines, ambulances and police vehicles raced to the scene and put a cordon in place.
Pictures from the scene showed a heavy emergency services presence stationed on the residential road, with parts of the wall seen charred and a number of windows open at the property. The cause of the blaze has not yet been confirmed.
Greater Manchester Police were contacted for further details on the incident.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At just before 6.20pm today (Thursday 13 March), fire crews were called to reports of a fire at a domestic property on Brookfield Road, Manchester.
“Four fire engines from Gorton, Hollins, Stretford and Salford quickly attended the incident and are using three hose reels, six breathing apparatus and one positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the fire.
“Crews are working alongside colleagues from Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service to make the area safe and remain in attendance.”
