Nine people were inside a house that caught fire in north Manchester on Thursday evening (March 13), it's understood. A huge emergency response was scrambled to the scene of the blaze on Brookfield Road in Crumpsall.

Four people had self-rescued by the time fire crews arrived, with windows seen blown out on the top floor of the property, the M.E.N understands. Five others were then pulled to safety by emergency services at the scene. Their condition has not been confirmed.

The alarm was raised at around 6.20pm, before multiple fire engines, ambulances and police vehicles raced to the scene and put a cordon in place.
