Three costly errors doomed the University of Hawaii baseball team in a 9-5 loss to Cal Poly on Saturday night at Les Murakami Stadium.

Hawaii fell to 21-15 overall and 5-9 in Big West Conference play, while Cal Poly improved to 22-15 overall and 12-5 in conference games.

After Hawaii walked off the Mustangs on Friday, the Rainbow Warriors took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth.

Cal Poly took the lead for good with five runs in the top of the fifth, which came off two Hawaii errors by shortstop Jordan Donahue and second baseman Stone Miyao.

While attempting to hold a 7-5 deficit in the ninth, the Rainbow Warriors allowed two more runs on a throwing error by reliever Tai Atkins.

Randy Abshier got the start and loss for Hawaii, allowing eight hits, five runs (one earned), two walks and five strikeouts in 4.2 innings.

Steven Brooks got the win for Cal Poly after scattering five hits and two walks with five strikeouts in seven innings, allowing two runs, while Tanner Sagouspe got the save with two innings of work.

Offensively, Jake Steels and Dylan Kordic got three hits each for Cal Poly, while Austin Machado had three hits of his own for Hawaii.

UH leadoff hitter Jordan Donahue went 0-for-5, ending his hitting streak of 18 games.
