Working remotely is increasingly common in corporate America. The average U.S. employee telecommutes two days per month, and many of the companies offering remote jobs are big corporations. Careers site FlexJobs analyzed its database of about 47,000 companies to find the largest firms hiring for flexible or remote jobs and ranked the list by the organizations offering the most remote positions.

Amazon took the top spot among large companies with the most flexible jobs. As a tech company that’s also one of the largest retailers in the world, some of Amazon’s recent openings have been in logistics—such as jobs building and sorting pallets—as well as HR and engineering.
UnitedHealth Group, the biggest U.S. health insurer, has about 200,000 employees and ranked second on FlexJobs’ list. The healthcare company recently posted remote openings for database analysts, insurance claims representatives and case manager nurses.
Founded in 1911, IBM is one of America’s oldest technology companies and took the third spot among large firms with remote jobs. IBM provides products and services ranging from business consulting to cloud computing applications. Web designer, marketing manager and sales associate are among the flexible jobs IBM has recruited for.
American Express ranked seventh on FlexJobs’ list. Launched in New York in 1850 as a delivery company, two of the firm’s three original founders would later leave to start Wells Fargo. Amex now has 55,000 employees. It has recruited for an administrative assistant, user experience analyst and sales manager in remote roles.
Atlanta-based First Data ranked ninth. The firm provides a wide range of payment services, from credit card point-of-sale systems to ATM networks. Nearly all of First Data’s recent telecommuting jobs were in sales.
