Second meeting of joint Kyrgyz-Saudi Cooperation Committee in Bishkek

Bishkek, Oct. 18, 2019. / Kabar /. The 2nd meeting of the joint Kyrgyz-Saudi committee on cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was held in Bishkek.

The Kyrgyz part of the Committee is headed by First Vice Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kubatbek Boronov, and the Saudi part is headed by Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Abdurahman bin Abdul-Muhsin Al-Fadli.

According to the press service of the government, opening the meeting, Kyrgyz First Deputy Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov expressed the interest of the Kyrgyz side in enhancing multilateral cooperation between the countries.

“It should be noted that in recent years there has been a positive trend in the growth of trade. However, the volume of bilateral trade does not correspond to the economic potential of our countries. Given this, in order to develop and deepen cooperation to expand trade and economic relations between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, additional efforts are necessary,” he said.

Boronov emphasized that the government of the Kyrgyz Republic is currently focusing on improving the investment climate, supporting the private sector, eliminating administrative restrictions, reducing barriers and improving legislation in the field of entrepreneurship.

“Entrepreneurs from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be interested in the Bishkek Free Economic Zone, which operates in the regime of tax and customs benefits. The low price of electricity and rich water resources contribute to the establishment of production. At the same time, the Kyrgyz side supports the idea of ​​holding a Kyrgyz-Saudi investment forum,” he assured.

In turn, the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Abdurahman bin Abdul-Muhsin Al-Fadli, noted great opportunities for further close cooperation between the two countries.

“We are ready to expand and intensify mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in various fields. For the effective implementation of bilateral agreements, the relevant state bodies of our countries should make joint efforts,” said Abdurahman bin Abdul-Muhsin Al-Fadli and proposed to hold an exhibition on tourism and infrastructure of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to familiarize with the tourism opportunities of our countries.

During the meeting, a presentation was made of the tourism potential of the Kyrgyz Republic and a project to create an Islamic bank in Kyrgyzstan.

At the meeting, the parties considered a wide range of issues of cooperation in the field of economics, trade, investment, agriculture, energy, science and education, tourism and culture, and halal industry.

The parties agreed on cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of bustard, livestock breeding and strategies for improving the breed of animals, on the exchange of visits to familiarize themselves with irrigation projects, modern irrigation methods and practices.

Following the meeting, a joint protocol of the Joint Intergovernmental Committee was signed.
